Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi was proud of his players for their 4-2 win against Tottenham.
Brighton were 4-0 up through Jack Hinshelwood, Joo Pedro (2 penalties) and Pervis Estupin, before two late Spurs goals from Alejo Vliz and Ben Davies.
De Zerbi said: "We played fantastic football for 80 minutes and then we were unlucky in the first goal we conceded. After that we suffered the quality of Tottenham.
"Tottenham are the team that has played the best football in the first part of the season. We have to accept this reaction. We have to accept to concede a goal in this way. If we are able to win 4-0 and concede a goal in that way then it is because we are showing great character, courage and quality for 80 minutes, and sometimes you have to accept these mistakes.
"I think this season it was the best performance. Not just for Joao Pedro and Billy Gimour, I am speaking in general for Brighton.
"I am really lucky to be this coach of this team with these players. I am very pleased with the passion they have, they have everything.
"You can't forget we are Brighton. Sometimes they forget we are Brighton. We are not Manchester United, Manchester City, Newcastle or Arsenal, we are still Brighton.
"The other eight or nine big teams in the Premier League they do not sell their big players."
