The Philadelphia 76ers couldn’t keep their entire training camp roster around for the start of the 2023-2024 NBA season, so some tough cuts had to be made as usual.

When the Sixers cut the cord with David Duke Jr., they were hopeful he would land back with the organization via the Delaware Blue Coats.

Fortunately for the Sixers’ G League affiliate, that’s the case. When the team announced its training camp roster a few days ago, Duke was included. He joins the Sixers’ two-way prospects, along with a handful of NBA hopefuls.

After entering the NBA in 2021, David Duke joined the Brooklyn Nets as an undrafted prospect during the offseason. As the 2021-2022 season approached, Duke landed a two-way contract with the team. Therefore, he split his time between Brooklyn and Long Island, the Nets’ affiliate.

Over the span of two seasons, Duke appeared in 45 games for the Nets. He averaged 13 minutes on the court, accounting for four points and two rebounds per game.

After two seasons in Brooklyn, Duke hit the free agency market and landed with the 76ers in mid-September. Although he received an opportunity to compete with the Sixers during the preseason, Duke was released after the four-game run concluded.

With two G League seasons under his belt, Duke has appeared in 35 regular season games with the Nets. Averaging 32 minutes on the floor, the veteran put up 20 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field. He also averaged six rebounds, four assists, and two steals during his regular season tenure with Long Island.

In the G League Playoffs, Duke has three appearances. In 96 minutes of postseason action, Duke scored 53 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, five steals, and two blocks. The veteran guard joins a Blue Coats team that picked up its first NBA G League Finals win in the organization’s history.
